Proofreading

Thursday, December 12, 2019

Assalamualaikum and hi to all.

yeah. that's me :p

In July, I received a message from an old acquaintance asking me to proofread a translation work. It is the book of Islam & Democracy by Tn Guru Haji Hadi (TGHH). At first, I declined because i simply knew a translation work is harder than the normal ones. Not only that, it is a 'heavy' book and the phrases or words must be at that level too. It is 150 pages and I have not done that amount of pages, just yet. Plus, the book the will be published. Nonetheless, i was thinking to do some contribution and yeah, to accept the job not knowing what im gonna face ahead. Nope. I dont regret it, not that.

After some negotiations, I plainly agreed to do it voluntarily and my only condition is to give me some time coz 150 pages is not a night work. Yeah, so it started.

Of course, I didnt start immediately owing to the bundles of task surrounding me. Sometimes when i had spare time, I'll read and correct some parts, leisurely. Since i did it leisurely and the pages are 150, obviously the work did not progress  much.

This task is like always running at the back of my head. I remember it often, it seemed that it is running after me. I mean, it has been months but still the progress is 10 per cent. I got easily disappointed with myself and this stressed me out. At times, i questioned myself, why did i accepted this in the first place. Really. Haha but no regrets okayy

It was not until the Deepavali Holiday that i made sure to really make time for this task. I promised myself like it or not, i MUST finish the job within the holidays coz this is the only uninterrupted period before the school resume. I also left the piles of exam papers unattended for this cause. The holidays stretched for about a week and i literally do not go out of the house, i went no where except for a day and that single day cost me 25 pages. I made out a plan to finish at least 30 pages each day and within 5 days, i must finish it. I even pray Solat Hajat every time before starting the work because the stress is unimaginable.

This Islam & Democracy book took a long time since i have to cross refer with the original book in Malay for almost every pages. It was tough. Literally, I cried doing this.

My friend texted me and he asked politely if I could emailed him the completed work by November 22nd, i told him yeah i will.

And can you imagine me the day i emailed him the completed work? It is as if a huge rock is taken out from my head and i was greatly relieved i thank Allah for helping me making it through.

Im still grateful today that i have actually finished the job. The book in its original version of 150 pages is (i could say, i may not finish reading it) due to its heavy things inside spinning my head hihi. Salute to Ayoh Chik for his amazing and vast amount of knowledge.

Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal.

this seems like a normal post, but the weight of it was unbearable haha

Wassalam.

Running for A Kid

Tuesday, December 10, 2019

Assalamualaikum.

Image result for teachers quote

It was the second last week before the school holidays, loads of works to be settled and tempers were running high.

I had to supervise (kind of) a Year 5 course from 8 am to 12 pm. In the meantime, i was arranging files, typing, cutting papers, key in marks, print, running up and down the floor to settle documents for Hari Akademik 2 on the next day. Not only that, teachers were occupied and busy with all the preparations for our annual big events. Also had to deal with things like - not doing work fast enough or not doing work at all. Huh. Dealing with humans are never easy.

12.15 pm, went for lunch and get ready for 12.30 pm Year 1 English class.

Initially, it was the usual greetings from teacher and pupils already had their books on the desks when i spotted a boy without book. Nonchalantly i asked for his book and why he's not taking it out.

What he did - he screamed right to my face and started crying with an extra high pitched voice (can still pictured his reaction huh). I was stunned - coz i just asked that simple questions as normally i would. I was purely exhausted emotionally and physically. I told him, cry as much as he want; i wouldnt care. Next, this boy toppled off his desk, just another sign of protest.

I continued the class as usual for about 10 minutes when that boy suddenly ran out of the class straight to the main road. Fuh. The rain still poured heavily at that time but a teacher has no choice except to run for the kid. So i ran for him.

He took me running for him from A to B, then B to C, C to D, D to E in the rain and finally when he went to F i could get this no more. A man carrying ice stock to the school passed by and i asked for his help.

The school here has no gates and yeah, the main road was busy with cars. I was frightened and angry at the same time. Frightened - if he went to the road. Angry - for this attitude of his.

As a normal human being, i was really exhausted emotionally i almost cried.
Anyone might say as a teacher, you should expect this but when this real thing happened, sometimes it breaks you.

I looked like a fool running in the rain in the eyes of many people at the road and nearby restaurant.

Behind the scene story of this boy :

1. The same boy caused greater trouble for a teacher early of the year; which include humiliating the teacher in front of a group of parents-till the teacher finally decided to change her job. When this boy did this, i was furious too and could not bring my eyes looking at him.

2. He was bad tempered from the period before English. From what the fellow classmates said, he bit the teacher's arm & did some funny scribbles with pencil colour on the floor.

3. After inspection, he came from a family with a bad tempered dad - told by his mom.

4. I taught his sister too, and you know what the sister never smiled until sometimes i had to ask her to smile. She also at times skipped Quran class and whenever asked for reason, she never answered back.

These are among the perks of being a teacher.
'Ala kulli hal, experience always teach us something and this time, emm what are the lessons?

Kellies Castle Trip

Monday, December 09, 2019

Assalamualaikum.

just before the first hiccup haha

This year i was given the responsibility as Year 5 Class Teacher, so among the things i must manage is Year 5 School Trip.

We (other Y5 class teachers) discussed and listed out few possible places to visit. We contacted many travel agencies too and our top most concern is the fees, which will also be the concern of parents.

After various changes, turun naik ofis, discussion with HEM and redo of paperworks, we all agreed on Last World of Tambun, which i had been in 2017. We managed to track down the same agency we had before and i found Pn Watie. I requested for the quotation and agreed at RM195 fees for 80 students.
That is the lowest fare we could find and then started drafting our budget.

It was a long process and what not. With the insufficient funds, it make things harder. We pulled it through anyhow. Misscomunication was unavoidable. When it comes to financial things, we need around RM1500. I told the other teachers, we'll make it. I tried hard to stay calm and positive and smile. The truth is i dont really mind what the parents said when we requested sponsors from them, be cool. But when the other teachers made a fuss about it, aduhh i told them rilex and just do what we need to do.

Two days before the trip, we received a letter from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) disbursing RM2K for the trip. Alhamdulillah. Due to the tight schedule, i didnt manage to process the letter before and promised the staff, we'll submit the bank statement later.

Alhamdulillah on the morning of 9th November, we gathered at school compound all ready to Perak. The Right Time Travel provided us with two staffs @ tour guides which make things easier.

11.30 am: RTC Tanjung Pulai

Our first stop for lunch, change clothes and pray Solat Jamak Takdim. We arrived earlier than expected, about one and a half hour before Zuhr so i told the kids to finish their lunch, change clothes and get ready for prayer when the adzan calls. Teachers distributed the lunch packs we brought from school - Nasi Ayam Kicap.

1.40 pm: Lost World of Tambun

Since this is my second time here, at least i knew what to expect. We took group photos beforehand before entering. Here, the first hiccup appeared. We were told only jersey clothes are allowed in and cottons etc are prohobited whilst most of the girls wear cotton shirts. I was like, what?? Being me, i tried to negotiate with the boss there and still, we cant. 15 minutes gone and i told the kids no worries, they can still get inside. The only viable solution is to buy the jersey shirt in the shop. The problem is they dont have spare money and i am responsible for that. I thank Allah for the sponsor from TNB. I paid with debit card first for a total of RM500++. They gave us 20% max discounts for the shirts. I communicate with Fath (tour guide) and told him this is clearly not our fault and the agency must be responsible. I told him, pls tell Pn Watie i requested for some reimbursement, at least RM100.

We went inside and played all sort of things other than the water park. It rained heavily for 30 minutes before it subsided and we continued playing. By 7 pm, we gathered again to check in the hotel.

8.30 pm: Impiana Hotel

We checked in and dinner were distributed (Nasi Goreng Ayam). The hotel was just okay. It was an old hotel. The teachers' room was quite small compared to the students though. I requested for the same hotel in 2017 but the travel agent said the price has increased and do not suit our budget. Its okay. The breakfast did not have many choices too.

10.00 am: Muzium Ipoh

This is also my second time here. They renovate the museum last two year and this year got to see what they have at the upper floor. Okay, not bad.

11.30 am: Kellies Castle

Okay. This is my first time here and i was thrilled. One common thing every people said about this place - haunted. It was a really awesome place, far better than the museum we went. I loved the history of that place. Really. I wanted to read the info there for the second round when i realised it was empty. All the kids already went down.

Kellies Castle was named after the owner, William Kellie Smith; a Scottish. He build the mansion as a gift for his wife. They had two kids; Anthony and Helen. His business  in tin mining and rubber flourished in Perak. He passed away in Lisbon, Portugal on his short trip there. After his passing, his wife decided to move back to Scotland with their two kids. It is told that Helen was the one who came to Malaysia and retold the story of her father and providing photos which were available in the castle. It is a ruined and unfinished mansion and during the construction, few unfortunate things took place like the struck of Spanish flu, which led to the death of many construction workers. In the castle, the visitors could see the planned rooms and designated places like Ruang Lif. William was supposed to transport the first ever lift to Tanah Melayu before his unduly death in Lisbon.

Then, we stopped by that RTC again for prayers and lunch before we headed back to Gombak. We arrived at 10 pm i think. I was relieved Allah made it easy for us. Alhamdulillah.

I was also glad Fath (the tour guide) was so helpful and their service was tip top.

Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal.

The photos :)

A Day at The Hospital

Monday, December 09, 2019

Assalamualaikum. Today is 9th of December and yesterday, i spent the whole day and the night before at a hospital.

My brother was diagnosed with Leptospirosis, had a high fever and did not getting better for a week. Off to hospital and the doc was saying no dengue maybe lepto so you go admit the ward first and we'll see the progress.

Yup. At 8 am i went to the hospital so mom can come home and get rest. I was considering whether i should bring along my laptop coz i have to settle and finish some work. Emm, it has no battery; i need to find a plug.

First thing first, i looked for the canteen and since this is an old hospital; i dont put a high hope. The canteen was small and yup, as expected it has no power supply /plug around. I took my breakfast with nasi bungkus and teh tarik before looking later. Whilst at that, i make use of my iBook - Goblet of Fire im currently reading.

The male ward is located at the farthest end of the hospital so i did a lot of walking yesterday, alhamdulillah. I went at his ward first before continue looking for a plug. I saw Pusat Sumber signage and i looked around and asked a staff. He showed me the place and you know what - the so called Pusat Sumber is juts a corner hahah. It is just a Reading Corner, so funny.

So my last hope was the surau. I went there and yup, also no plug except for the one at the imam's in front. It was only 11 am then, i had no choice but to use it for a while. (The surau is divided by curtains for men and women)

I immediately typed and did my work before Zuhr and yes, finally i managed to complete and submit the work. Fuh. Alhamdulillah.

Alright, i went for ablution and prayed at the surau and tried to nap but to no avail. I went to the ward again to see my brother and went out again for some fresh air, poring over the book i brought - newly purchased and went in and went out of the ward to make sure all is well.

Smiled to people around, look left and right and smiled again hahahaha

In a nut shell, looking over sick family is a big thing especially if the one looking is an elderly person. I dont really mind but if mom has to wait this long, pity mom. And when there are visitors, it just made their day i think.

Emm and hospital is a place to tell us to be grateful all the time.

Walking here and there for a day at the hospital feels like.. i knew this place already. And one more thing to add up is, it has a spotless toilet with wall decorations and info. Plus they put a pipe for ablution in the toilet. Wow. The hospital also provide a convenient surau. The also put a place for women's ablution so strategically and that was my first time seeing that in any place. I've never seen it and it is a brilliant one. See? I praised a lot. And one last thing about this hospital. Since it is a district hospital and the way it placed its wards are super easy. There is a long corridor from the registration until the last ward available. You will not get lost here ever. There is no belok-belok, all wards are either on the left or right of the corridor and you just have to walk by until you find the ward, a piece of cake.

Oh yes, they also have this hot and cold drinks dispenser, all only for RM1.00.
Yep, no kidding. It has mocha, chocolate, cappucino and tea. This is my favourite part and it taste good :D

Alhamdulillah.Thank you Allah or everything.

Because You're Single

Sunday, November 03, 2019

alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal

Poem Title :
Because You're Single

By:
Nur Anis Pauzi

Bcos you're single
You watch movies late at night
You do nothing in the weekend
You  browse FB and IG all the time
Just lazing around

Bcos you're single
You are less responsible
You have no hubsy & kids
You dont have to wake up early
You have no house to clean
You dont have to cook and all
Basically you're a lazy lady

Bcos you're single
You're always on call
Substituting others for work
You've no reason to escape
Well, you have no one to care of
So, why cant you?

Bcos you're single
You must always be ready
There and then
For any callings
For something urgent to get done
Come on, you don't have babies to feed
You sure can do it

Bcos you're single
When you lament on something
They get back to you
And tell right on your face
You dont understand
You have no husband and kids
You dont know things

Bcos you're single
When you mention about hopes in life
It must be about love matters
That's the only single thing you hoped for
None others

Bcos you're single
I dedicate this to you
The often misunderstood life of a single lady

27 years old

Saturday, September 21, 2019

Bismillah. Alhamdulillah. This is a delayed post over two months already.

I intended earlier on to write a post on my birthday, July 30th but you know works kept flooding and i dont find a suitable time plus mood to write. Just so you know, i write here more frequently - kakdikbaik , my blog on books.

First, it's already September- towards end of the year and yeah, many things happened in between until now. This post is specially dedicated to remind me of the past 27 years I've been living as God's servant on earth.

Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.
I am forever grateful to Allah for making it to this age and I believe time will mature you enough to live a content life and always be good. Yup.

At this phase of age, I am bombarded with many questions and I planned many things as well. I wanted to believe that I am here today for all the things Allah has planned for me.

I learnt a lot from life experiences and lessons from surrounding people. I really do. I also tell myself repeatedly only the positive things. I allow myself to feel sad, angry or disappointed but above all, I have Allah beside me. If you remember that, you will just keep going no matter what.

Life is hard. It's true. So, we have to learn to face it successfully. It takes courage and positive mind :D

What is meant for you will not miss you and what misses you is not meant for you - Imam as Syafiee
Hatiku tenang kerana tahu rezekiku tidak akan diambil orang - Imam Hasan al Basri

Currently, working as a teacher; I am still far from my ambition of pursuing my study at PhD level. I started the process early last year and already received the offer letter for September 2018 intake (Semester I). I even attended the registration day but I didnt register. Why? Because I cant afford the semester fees totalling RM4K per sem. The registration fee is still affordable not the semester fees though hehe. One semester is four months only equals to RM1K per month. I told myself i will lost a lot of weight if I enrolled hahaha. Pray for me that Allah ease the way amiin. I am planning to write on gold, but it is still subjected to availability of data and many other considerations.

Did I enjoy being a teacher?
Oh yes, I do! That feeling when you teach innocent kids are priceless. I will always miss them. I have that great feeling that anything I read, watched or heard I got to share the knowledge with those little humans. I love conveying the messages and i think they loved it too or maybe haha. Only if i could capture their expression when i am explaining something hahah. I really treasure the moment. Of course, any workplace has its ups and downs but yeah, that is life. You cant sit all on smooth lanes, you may find it bumpy somewhere.

I received a lot of questions when I will be working in line with my study field which is finance. I am as much curious as those asking haha. I still wanted to work in a Islamic bank, have a handful of experience and all. I figured out myself, if one day I dont have the opportunity then I would go through the academic line as a Shariah Advisor kiki inshaAllah.

I also tried to register for professional certs. I found out that it took about 3 years to complete the whole module. Emm, that's long time. We'll see how.

Marriage? I suppose this year is the year that i got that question a lot - from relatives but not once from my parents alhamdulillah. The years before, people were only interested in my studies - i also dont know why haha

Okay actually i choose to not wait for jodoh to come rolling to me nor be sad in waiting. Nope. I choose to not wait for things to happen but to engage in the present time and yeah, living my life. At the same time, not to rush things just because you see your friends got married. Sometimes, we have to believe in Allah's plan and most imprtantly to learn to trust it. Only then, we will feel at peace with ourselves. You should too. InshaAllah.

Marriage is a long term commitment and you cant easily backed out. It involves many parties as well. This is not saying to be too choosy, nope but praying to Allah to select the best for you. Wow. I sound like an ustazah already hahaha

Okay, let me share a piece of beautiful prayer.

Allahumma sakkhirli zaujan solihan yakhtibuni wayatazzawaju bi wayakunu sohiban li fiddunya wal jannah - i tried to find the Arabic type but found none, so this will do okayy
(O Allah, choose me a good husband who will propose me, and marry me, and be my friend in the dunya wal jannah)

Oh yeah, as for now I am an actively promoting for people to save gold as part of their savings plan - Public Gold. I also sell scarves for a living hihi - Bawal NUQ. You may reached me through my FB for details. Ops terpromot pulak.

At this age, I valued my parents a huge lot. huhu. I loved them with all my hearts. I frequently told my kids at school how much their parents love them just so they learn to appreciate their parents. I knew my parents face a lot to raise us all 6 siblings until now. Talking about them, deserved another post. I always feel that i had not been the best daughter to them huhu.

O Allah, please love both my parents as their love for me since i was small. Ameen.

I think I will end here. Today i spent all day at home, enjoying Laskar Pelangi.
I shared a lot on books on my other blog. Always full with emotions you know :p
Please do visit if you like it too :)

Alhamdulillah. Thank you Allah for this 27 years.

Girl Friends Till Jannah (GFTJ)

Tuesday, August 06, 2019

Assalamualaikum. Some Gombak areas are having blackout now i should be managing the Qurban iPrisma works, i have no laptop to work on. So, here i am.

I haven’t written an official post for my 27th birthday last week and this memory popped out in Facebook today. So, I’ll post this one first because some days later i wanted to reminisce how close we were. Though things are different now, along with life changes; still this one deserved a spot in my memory box. You dont want to throw something that easily when you grew up with the memories.

We havent met for over a year now and it is a sad truth when my GFTJ already has a 6 months old daughter, yet you’ve never seen her in pregnancy 🥺but life goes on. I daresay that we’ll both be awkward (or at least I would) when we meet later on.

We did turn on the silent mode for some period after the marriage. At first, i didn’t text giving some space in her honeymoon but when i did, just sending silly texts as usual, it returned in short replies. So, it gave me the idea she’s real busy with her new life and i shouldn’t disturb often. Yeah, maybe just my perception but you know, when it continues, i just have to accept it. When i told her about this, she was furious and sad too and even left our chat group 🥺

Yes, we women are complicated sometimes we couldn’t understand ourselves 🧕🏻

It’s okay, situations change so do we :)

Nope. If you think she’s bad, nope and never okay. She’s such a sweet girl who used to send me beautiful quotes and photos, who braved through our campus life together, sharing life goals, keep motivating each other and many more memories i cant even write them all here 😍

it was cool then taking photos on the motorbike, little did i knew how much i treasured this now, after years leaving campus life

Look, the proof she’s being all sweetie pie here 🥰

Me literally cried writing this post :)

miss you ^_^
I was looking for the photo on her wedding but couldnt find one..guess our younger version would do :p

Mc Chicken Spicy

Saturday, July 20, 2019

Alhamdulillah. Terima kasih ya Allah.

Today was my first time ordering @ buying mc chicken. I dont eat Mc Donald until last year when Mufti Wilayah, Dr Zulkifli al Bakri gave an official statement on this matter.

The first time i ate was its burger 🍔 with Sarah and Asmaa at OTK’s outlet. I never tasted that burger and it felt good. Second time i went was March this year, redeeming free coupon. I had mcd iced latte for the first time and fell in love too with its texture.

And today, I ordered Mc Chicken, 2 pcs chicken & coleslaw through GRAB Food. I only paid RM18.00 because they are giving out discounted price. Alhamdulillah! 😍 This is my first time too using grab food. I could save more instead of going to the outlet because grab frequently give discount coupons.

I ate the chicken while reading my new long awaited book, Charlie and Chocolate Factory. Reading the book reminds me to my first chocolate bar, Vochelle in 2008. What an experience and how it reminds me to stay the same and not to forget my ground ❤️❤️

Always appreciate and enjoy the little pleasures in life.

Btw, today is Chik’s birthday and he requested an indulgence cake. Yes, on your way tomorrow after school okay 😘

Ya Allah bantulah kami dalam melaksanakan amanah ini. Amiin
Semoga sedikit amal ini akan menjadi pemberat timbangan kami di akhirat.

This post summed up my experience at Vivatel Hotel, KL and what's the relation with GRAB? Hmm..read until the last sentence okeh huu

This course i attended was on Pendidikan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (PKJR) which all schools in Malaysia have to embed in our Bahasa Melayu lessons for two hours/month starting next year.

Enjoy the pics!

Now, let's see the room's view but i only managed to take photos when we were about to check out, so the views werent like we first arrived okei hehe

view from eleventh floor during Subuh time

 me at night proofreading

 the workspace and tv
the toilet - purely transparent haha. many hotels have it like this
view from eleventh floor at midnight

Bismillah. Assalamualaikum.

It's 1.30 am now and i'm still doing some work - proofreading conference paper. And, just to boost my mood, i came here to pen something; as usual hihi

Alhamdulillah finally today i am done with my Puasa 6. Syukur to Allah, i did it. May this amal is accepted by Allah SWT ameen.

Im actually writing tonight from a hotel room in Vivatel Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Got to attend a 3D 2N course starting from today and i was just informed of this course at 4 pm yesterday. First, i was shocked and totally unprepared and a bit furious coz i have planned to finish drafting exam papers last night and suddenly i have to prepare myself for today's event. Huh

Today also was my last day for fasting, so i breakfasted at the Retro Cafe today, the hotel restaurant. I told myself, "Which of Allah's blessings you want to deny?" This place is also super comfy, spacious and i love it so much. Huhu. They gave us a room for two which adds to my convenient hugely especially when i need time to finish my job. Alhamdulillah and thank you Allah.

Sambutan Hari Raya Al Huda 2019/1440H

Sunday, June 30, 2019

Assalamualaikum.
Alhamdulillah, i have only a day left for puasa enam which i did concurrently with puasa qadha'.

One thing i could say about fasting is - mindset and subconscious mind.
Before i started the first day of this puasa, i told myself i can do this and i can survive the pack schedule and my exhaustion during class and i can stand the food in front of me hahah. It's all about setting the right mindset and with that, we could survived many things. Actually, i also dont believe myself surviving the five days streak of fasting but yeah, i did it anyway alhamdulillah. Tomorrow, i'll skip fasting and inshaAllah the last day will be on Tuesday. Yeay!

At the same time, i always feel like a good girl when i'm fasting and i love that feeling and miss Ramadhan greatly. The environment during Ramadhan was priceless.

I went to tuition this evening and my 12 year old student said she had completed her puasa 6. I was in awe to be truth and asked, why & how did you puasa? I was so glad to hear her story.

Okay, back to topic. Yesterday was my school's raya feast. We served a lot of food, really. This year, i have to handle Sate & Nasi Himpit stall with Kak Ha, Kak Nisah and Aisyah.

* the photos are not in the order i wanted them to be. it keeps moving every time i adjusted, so in the end, just let it be

This year, we have 5K cucuk sate and it is sad to see almost 1K were still laying in the boxes untouched at noon, when guests stopped coming. huhu

In the end, i'm not sure what happened to the unfinished sate but surely it didnt go for waste. Hopefully.

I think that's all because i've got to do some work - huu. A long list of work - secretarial thingy. Pray for me.

Till then, wassalam.
