Assalamuaikum herkes (everyone).

Some background story - I installed the apps and chose Turkish as a language to learn seven years ago.

But, I was never consistent - the app is right there but i did not touch it often haha, no exact reason, just lazy i guess.

During the pandemic, i prepared a notebook and pursued this for a while but it stopped when the hustle bustle of life kicked in again.

Until i got this email..

And the feeling seeped in, I feel like practising and learning again.

At this date, I reached a 100 day streak without fail and that is an achievement for me because being consistent is not my forte and i am glad that i reached a 100th day and yes of course i learnt many new vocabs and grammar too.

Since May, I have bought two exercise books on the language and printed out some materials to write and practise.

I also tuned in to YouTube and watched Turkish series  just to listen to their talkings and all.

I learnt the numbers, the grammars and vocabs. It is a fun journey to be in and i am enjoying it, just for fun and knowledge because I have always envy people who can master another language, I feel like learning one too.

What kind of practise is this? Are you mocking me? :p

Yup. That's it, the story of the day :)

Can't recall the last time participating in himpunan / demonstrasi. A long time ago for sure..

showing solidarity with the rest of the world #FreePalestine

people shared this link on Palestinian literatures on the internet and i found it so good  link here and am currently reading two of them

I used to read on holocaust and genocide and nakbah - history and all but to be honest, i do not really understand.. but this current genocide happening in 2023 open up my eyes wide; understood better - my bad

Nakbah = catastrophe, took place in 1948, this year marked the 75th year of Palestinian people being displaced and loss of their land and never been allowed back

BDS = Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions

Anti-semitic = being unfriendly or prejudiced against Jewish people

The Balfour Declaration = a public pledge by Britain in 1917 declaring its aim to establish “a national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine.

Palestine now = West Bank & Gaza

Curfew at 8pm in Gaza and shoot on sight by Israel stupid military

The land theft that began way before 1948 was encouraged by Britain. Its result was Nakba. -

Nakba - the ethnic cleansing of half the Palestinian population within one year (1947-1948)

Ethnic cleansing defined by UN Security Council - a purposeful policy designed by one ethnic or religious group to remove by violent or terror-inspiring means the civilian population of another ethnic or religious group from certain geographic areas.

To colonize Palestinian land, Israel has to maintain myriad methods of segregation and implement ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinian population.

The first Palestinian intifada - from 1987 to 1993.

The second Palestinian intifada in year 2000 - a mass uprising that began in the West Bank and Gaza, spread to Palestinian citizens of Israel and led to mass demonstrations across the Arab world.

Israel is able to carry out this systemic discrimination and military occupations due to unequivocal support it receives from the Western powers.

Israel controls what goods come in and out of Gaza, including food and medicine, and controls Gaza's access to fuel, water and electricity, Gaza's economy and Gaza's population's registry.

The mainstream media fails to convey the Palestinian struggle as the struggle for freedom, dignity and human rights that it is.

Rather, Palestinian are inaccurately depicted as violent people who wants to destroy Israel.

Or, at best, this is a 'conflict' in which two equal sides are fighting over a piece of land.

Most would be surprised to know many of the tactics used by icons of non-violent resistance throughout history, such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. have been used by Palestinians to resist the occupation and colonization of their land.

Wassalam.

Writing Debut

Assalamualaikum everyone.

I sent an entry for a poem competition organised by Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) UiTM Cawangan Kedah in March.

They announced the selected poems via email in May.

It took a while of course. Late September, they reached out to inform the anthology of poems was ready but I actually didnt realise the email until October, when they emailed for the second time.

When I first got the news, I was 100% sure i am gonna purchase the book and showed it to my parents haha

Later, i realised when the book was out - the sale price is RM200+ :0

I proceed to purchase the digital version, at least haha

As someone who is quite picky with book cover, this one is approved! It's nice, liked it..

Since the poem was submitted many months ago, I did not remember which theme did I put mine into when I first got the e-book. It's under Theme : Experience.

So, here it is..

I was clearly the underdog there and with no achievement to write..

Here's the poem (if i can call it one :p), but first promise you won't laugh okayy

Thank you for putting this silly humble work into print.

This is actually the second time something i wrote made it into printing - the first time was way back in secondary school I won a Haiku writing contest and they put the haiku in the school magazine. Yeah, only twice - so no bragging okay haha. Thanks anyway!

p/s: when i should be writing a thesis, i wrote a poem instead...hmm
