Writing Debut

Assalamualaikum everyone.

I sent an entry for a poem competition organised by Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) UiTM Cawangan Kedah in March.

They announced the selected poems via email in May.

It took a while of course. Late September, they reached out to inform the anthology of poems was ready but I actually didnt realise the email until October, when they emailed for the second time.

When I first got the news, I was 100% sure i am gonna purchase the book and showed it to my parents haha

Later, i realised when the book was out - the sale price is RM200+ :0

I proceed to purchase the digital version, at least haha

As someone who is quite picky with book cover, this one is approved! It's nice, liked it..

Since the poem was submitted many months ago, I did not remember which theme did I put mine into when I first got the e-book. It's under Theme : Experience.

So, here it is..

I was clearly the underdog there and with no achievement to write..

Here's the poem (if i can call it one :p), but first promise you won't laugh okayy

Thank you for putting this silly humble work into print.

This is actually the second time something i wrote made it into printing - the first time was way back in secondary school I won a Haiku writing contest and they put the haiku in the school magazine. Yeah, only twice - so no bragging okay haha. Thanks anyway!

p/s: when i should be writing a thesis, i wrote a poem instead...hmm

Rehlah DMPG @ Putrajaya

Sunday, September 24, 2023

Assalamualaikum everyone.

We organized a rehlah cum retreat to freshen up and relax a bit after the election workloads.

The date we chose was 23rd-24th September and we looked everywhere nearby including Seremban @ Port Dickson @ Hulu Selangor for a suitable place to accomodate 25 pax and the deal breaker is; absence of a swimming pool.

Finally, Bai found it at the eleventh hour - D'bridge Villa Putrajaya. Takpelah, tengah-tengah bandar pun, asalkan ada pool ;p

The story was, we decided to buy nasi goreng cina from here to pair up with BBQ for dinner. I went out around around 12 noon and the two restaurants were closed. Huh. I prayed the third one opened and ready for a la carte menu & alhamdulillah bought 10pax of nasi goreng cina. And some oranges from the kedai beside.

Quickly went home to get changed and prayed Zuhr and waited for KakWa to pick me up.

baru sampai @ 3pm and hungry

We actually informed everyone, no tea would be served and they should bring something themselves to alas perut before dinner, but since a few updated that tak sempat nak purchase anything - we the ones who arrived earlier went out to look for some light food. Kenapa la takde gerai goreng pisang kat Putrajaya ni haha

yes! jumpa kedai mamak dekat dengan villa so beli roti kosong 20pcs and teh ais

apam balik, big apple donuts, cheese tart, roti canai
teh tarik kaw! as you should!

Sampai villa, dah ramai yang sampai juga plus food they brought - so kita susunkan dulu mana yang ada.

The roti canai kuah kari was so good!

The short meeting or retreat was scheduled at 5pm and since every lajnah already submitted their takwim, now it is the time to present the upcoming activities.

That one done and we prayed Maghrib in congregation and finally...BBQ dinner.

And fortunately, whilst some of us were in the meeting - some others were prepping for dinner.

Before the dinner, we actually had slot tukar-tukar hadiah in brief sebab semua orang dah lapar ;)

I bought a Tupperware, hope you liked it!

update: the nasi goreng 10 bungkus i bought turned out to be basi huhu so ordered another from Grabfood so sorry

this is the nth serving haha

Next, mandi manda di samping menikmati kegelapan malam before the curfew at 11pm.

Day 2

We bought no breakfast as the leftover food from last night was abundant so just heat them up.

Some of us went for a morning jog or ride a boat and i went too (briskwalk) but just in front of the villa and on top of that got my caffeine.

sedapnya...

Next, we packed up, cleaned everything, chit chatted and ready to go home. And because no lunch is provided, we got RM15 ewallet haha for lunch thankssss felt like a school trip ;)

After check-out, ronda Putrajaya kejap beli makanan.

Race started at 2pm and watched it on the way home. #JapaneseGP

Overall, everyone enjoyed our little getaway alhamdulillah :)

One bonus point - the place is nearby Gombak hence easy to commute and need not travel far. Nice!

That's all for now. Ilalliqo'
