Date A Girl Who Reads

Friday, May 01, 2015
Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Read in the name of Your Lord (Al Alaq:1)

Date a girl who reads
Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes
Who has problems with closet space because she has too many books

Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read
Who has had a library card since she was twelve

Find a girl who reads
You'll know that she does
Because she will always have an unread book in her bag

She's the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore
The one who quietly cries out when she has found the book she wants

If you want the world and the worlds beyond it
Date a girl who reads

GST

Assalamualaikum.

GST: Goods & Services Tax
SST: Sales and Services Tax

GST falls under consumption tax. It means you will be taxed due to your consumption (items bought and services used)

My personal thoughts on GST

1. Its a new burden unwillingly shouldered by all
- GST operates on a negative concept. All items are taxed unless specifically exempted.
- SST operates on a positive concept. Only prescribed items are taxed.
- GST regime operates on a wider basis

2. It is quite impossible for government to withdraw it once it has been implemented.
- Government has incurred lots of money for explaining GST to public
- Even affected companies also have to bear some cost to install the new tax in their system.
- It has been years of research and debate before it was implemented starting 1st April 2015.
- Nevertheless, I opine that it may be implemented but NOT NOW.

3. Increases government's revenue
- Undoubtedly, this will happen.
- Also, the implementation of GST also hoped to reduce the government's deficit which is in a crucial state.

4. Fund management
- As public we are okay if the government's fund is well managed and used for beneficial and public welfare purposes.
- The thing that drives our anger is when public fund is not managed prudently plus some more controversial issues that I may not mention here.

5. I would say that even if in the next general election, the government changed, GST will still be there. However, there are many rooms for improvement like the fund management and spending habit of the government. So, in the first place you know what to do right? :)

This is rather out of topic. But, I would say that our people is very afraid to changes as if only one party can govern Malaysia forever.

6. I did asked academician and practitioner and people around and they responded the same. GST is not good, at least for now.

7. So, what about so many campaigns and gatherings by the NGOs and student movement to object GST? Will it affect government's plan? I think that it will just stay the same. But, it will surely open the eyes of the public on what actually the government are doing. And I hope they will take action in the next GE. In sha Allah.

8. It's not just about politics. If you think so, you better re-think.

Alhamdulillah. That's it for now.

May Allah bless us with deen and knowledge :)

Mati itu Dekat

Monday, April 13, 2015
Assalamualaikum.

Kejarlah akhirat, dunia pasti beriringan bersamamu.

Semoga Allah mengurniakan kita semua husnul khatimah.
Semoga Allah mengampunkan dosa-dosa kita.
Semoga segala amalan kita diterima dengan Allah.
Semoga kita bisa bertemu di syurga.
Amin.

The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost

Monday, March 16, 2015
Assalamualaikum :)

*****************************************************************************************************

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads onto way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be finding this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence;

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

********************************************************************************************************

And that has made all the difference.

O Allah, grant me istiqamah.
May Allah bless us.
May Allah made us firm believers.
May Allah made us people of Jannah.
Amin.
