The So-Called 'Janji Ditepati '

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

The price hikes are ‘awesome’. The withdrawal of sugar subsidy, the new electricity tariff increase (15%-18% starting next month), the replacement of SST (Sales and Services Tax) to GST (Goods and Services Tax) and the latest increase in toll prices which will take effect starting next months are driving the consumers crazy. These hikes are subsequent and too much for consumers. While the consumers are just adjusting themselves from the withdrawal of sugar subsidy after the announcement of Budget 2014, then without warning, came other price increases which are quite burdensome to the consumers.

A simple economic theory is: tax is one of the major sources of government’s revenue. This theory is a known fact to all and from the Islamic perspective, imposing tax is justifiable on the ground that the government is responsible to fulfill the basic needs of its citizen. However, the imposition of tax should not be heavy which may result in killing the work incentives of the tax payers.

I opine that the government should administer its financial position in a better and more effective ways like eliminating corruption in its dealings and should not spend extravagantly at the expense of the citizen. The ministers must realise that they are chosen by the rakyat not to thicken their own pockets but as a representative to voice out their opinions and hardships whenever necessary. The time has come when the ministers have to actually realize their promises during the General Election before. The price hikes came one after another and the Malaysian Rating Corporation(Marc) chief economist Nor Zahidi Alias said the main concern was that a slew of increases were being imposed at about the same time.He added, “Sugar and fuel prices have gone up and the electricity tariff hike will take effect soon. This will cause an upward pressure on consumer prices”.

TNB being the monopoly in the power industry is not hesitated in its decision to increase the tariff with the justification it is earning less than the cost it bears. Without major competitors in the industry, the customers are given no choice because whether we like it or not, we have to follow because a rejection will not affect TNB at large and yet we are affected which means no electricity. Nevertheless, some argues that competitors in the power industry is not a good idea because in the end the customer will be the victims of price competitions among the suppliers.

Regarding the anticipated toll hikes which will take effect next month (speculated to be between 50 sen to RM2), I think this is another way for government to take the citizen’s money legally. The government, holding a large part in the toll concessions should have a say in the decision and not to give the excuse that this increase is unavoidable due to the agreement with the private sectors. Majority of toll concessions are owned by government entities such as Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), Khazanah Nasional and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF).

To continue, we must realize that the price hikes will not stop just there. For example, the restaurants’ operators will increase the food prices. We, as a concerned customer could not say much since this will go back to the actions of the government itself, in increasing the prices. In a short run, the cost of living will go up and will limit the customers’ spending. This situation will lead to another financial problem which shall not be discussed here.

In a nutshell, the government should comply to its promises to reject negative elements to safeguard people’s interest. I am not willing for my beloved country to worsen financially as much as I am not willing to see the governments are bullying the citizen in tricky ways. If this continues, the government must not be surprised to see any movements from the side of the people who are silently oppressed.

Selamat Datang 2014

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Kedua:
Membaca Al-Qur’an sebelum terbit matahari, alangkah baiknya sebelum mata melihat dunia, sebaiknya mata membaca Al-Qur’an terlebih dahulu dengan penuh pemahaman.

Ketiga:
Jangan tinggalkan masjid terutama di waktu subuh. Sebelum melangkah kemana pun langkahkan kaki ke mesjid, kerana masjid merupakan pusat keberkahan, bukan kerana panggilan muadzin tetapi panggilan Allah yang mencari orang beriman untuk memakmurkan masjid Allah.

Keempat:
Jaga solat dhuha, kerana kunci rezeki terletak pada solat dhuha. Yakinlah, kesan solat dhuha sangat dasyat dalam mendatangkan rezeki.

Kelima:
Jaga sedekah setiap hari.

Selamat Tahun Baru 2014. Semoga lebih cemerlang di tahun ini .

Knowledge

Saturday, November 16, 2013
Assalamualaikum.

Guys, have you ever wondered why did you study?
Why did you go to university?
Why did you have to stay for four years(average) in university while you can actually work and earn some money? (idea of opportunity cost in economics)
Have you even wondered so?
:-)

Once, my friend asked me; " How we want to motivate ourselves to be committed and diligent enough in our study? "

The answer is simple; Make sure you know the reason for studying.Else, it is hard for you to focus and excel in your study :)

Let's take a look on what Allah says on this matter :

"Allah will raise those who believed among you and those who were given knowledge by degrees" (al Mujadalah:11)
Knowledge is important not only for the life in this dunya, but also for the akhirah.
Without sufficient knowledge, how are we supposed to do preparation for the akhirah?
Without knowledge, how do we want to survive in this challenging world?
Therefore, we need knowledge for both the dunya and the akhirah :)

Knowledge vs CGPA

Some students claim that the higher the pointer, the more knowledgeable you are.

Is it so?

Yes, it could be true and it could be wrong too.
Sometimes, there are students who are very knowledgeable and have high CGPA .
Sometimes, there are students who are well-known due to his knowledge, but not very good in CGPA.
Because, knowledge is vast and cannot be measured just by looking at the CGPA.
But, that does not mean, high CGPA is not important.
:)

Lastly, let us instil in our mind that we MUST be a knowl
edgeable and awesome Muslim in order to fight the Jahiliyyah in ourselves as well as the jahiliyyah out there.

#O Allah, increase me in knowledge while keeping me humble.Ameen.

say this du'a in our prayer always :)

Keluarga Bahagia ?

Monday, November 11, 2013
Bismillah.

Namun,
Apakah nasib bagi mereka yang tidak sebegitu?
Dalam erti kata yang lain;

maka jangan cepat melatah menyalahkan takdirNya.

Tetapi, senyumlah dan katakan kepada diri anda;

may Allah bless us with sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah in our family :)

The Power of Istighfar

Thursday, November 07, 2013
Assalamualaikum :)

It has been months since I last posted here.
In the absence, many things had occured and Alhamdulillah, now we are in the new year of Hijri, 1435 H :)

Actually, it had been many times I wrote but in the end, it just end up as drafts :)

So, In sha Allah today it won't end up as before :)

The Power of Istighfar

I would like to relate a story on this matter.

One day, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was in his journey seeking for knowledge. He had to get shelter from a mosque. However, the guard(of the mosque) did not allow him to sleep there , in the event that he(the guard) actually did not know that  person was Imam Ahmad. So, Imam Ahmad went out and tried to sleep outside the mosque compund but still he was not allowed to do so.

At the same time, a man whose work was kneading bread (penguli roti) saw that and felt sympathy to Imam Ahmad and invited him to have rest at his workplace nearby. After showing Imam Ahmad's resting place, he continued his work of kneading doughs for bread.[ he did not know that the person was Imam Ahmad ].

Imam Ahmad b Hanbal did not sleep but rather was looking at the person who helped him with admiration since he was saying istighfar continously while kneading the dough. Then, he approached the man and asked ,

" Since when are you practising this?"
He replied, " Alhamdulilah sir.It has been a while "
" Do you get profit or good fortunes with this practice(of saying istighfar continously) ?"
" Yes! Every wishes were granted except for one "
" What was that ? "
" I always wish to meet  Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal but Allah has yet to grant that wish "

With amazement, Imam Ahmad said ,

" Ya akhi, I am Imam Ahmad b Hanbal ! Allah has brought me here to meet you ! "

The end :)

Moral of the Story

1. Istighfar is a very significant zikr

2. We should say lots of istighfar each day
3. In his busy day of working for life, Allah has granted his wishes

:)
let's istighfar :)
